1 Nephi 15:33 - 16:1

1 Nephi 15:33 Wherefore, if they should die in their wickedness they must be cast off also, as to the things which are spiritual, which are pertaining to righteousness; wherefore, they must be brought to stand before God, to be judged of their works; and if their works have been filthiness they must needs be filthy; and if they be filthy it must needs be that they cannot dwell in the kingdom of God; if so, the kingdom of God must be filthy also.

This verse confirms the previous one. The wicked will be able to go to a kingdom more to their liking. If they do not like to be righteous, they can go where they will not feel out of place. They can be with folks of like mind.

1 Nephi 15:34 But behold, I say unto you, the kingdom of God is not filthy, and there cannot any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God; wherefore there must needs be a place of filthiness prepared for that which is filthy.

Nephi explains that the kingdom of God is not a place for wicked people so a place must be created for them. It would not be good for them so God’s love for His children so they would be comfortable required He have a place for them to go and be content with their lot.

1 Nephi 15:35 And there is a place prepared, yea, even that awful hell of which I have spoken, and the devil is the preparator of it; wherefore the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out because of that justice of which I have spoken.

The place is called hell. The devil rules over it and welcomes all who want to be there. So the choice is clear. Either you want to be with God in his kingdom or with satan in his kingdom.

1 Nephi 15:36 Wherefore, the wicked are rejected from the righteous, and also from that tree of life, whose fruit is most precious and most desirable above all other fruits; yea, and it is the greatest of all the gifts of God. And thus I spake unto my brethren. Amen.

Again the wicked are separated from the righteous which is like unto those who eat of the fruit of the tree in Lehi’s dream and those who will not. This fruit is the gift of God to his children and you have a choice as to if you want to eat of it or not. The choice is yours. This was the main thrust of Nephi’s words to his brothers.

1 Nephi 16:1 And now it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had made an end of speaking to my brethren, behold they said unto me: Thou hast declared unto us hard things, more than we are able to bear.

The brothers are not happy with what Nephi is telling them about the judgments of God. They know Nephi is telling them they are the ones who will not eat of the fruit. That they are being called wicked. The wicked never liked being call as such.
