2 Nephi 4:21 - 4:25

2 Nephi 4:21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.

The Lord has filled him with love, so much so that he almost could not stand the emotion it created in him.

2 Nephi 4:22 He hath confounded mine enemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me.

The Lord inspired him with what to say when he was in danger of his brothers. So powerful was his persona during these manifestations that they were afraid of him and thought they might die themselves. One still wonders why these manifestations did not caused these boys to repent and live as the Lord wanted them? This surely shows that the Lord cannot force anyone to be righteous. And it is proof that miracles do not convert either.

2 Nephi 4:23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me knowledge by visions in the night-time.

Nephi testifies that the Lord has heard his pleadings during his prayers. He also testifies that the knowledge he sought did come to him in dreams and visions in this sleep.

2 Nephi 4:24 And by day have I waxed bold in mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me.

Nephi has prayed with fervency during the day. He has done so that his righteous desires might be shown with passion to God. And they were answered with angels coming down to give him further instruction and training as to how to govern his people and deal with his brothers. Wonder if one of the angels was the same one that saved Nephi from a beating by his brothers.

2 Nephi 4:25 And upon the wings of his Spirit hath my body been carried away upon exceedingly high mountains. And mine eyes have beheld great things, yea, even too great for man; therefore I was bidden that I should not write them.

Nephi has been carried to the top of mountains where in a temple setting he was given instruction and additional training from time to time. He was shown the history of the world but was not allowed to write about all that he saw in vision. We are not ready to receive such information for whatever reason. It maybe that, for example, if we were told when the second coming were to take place we would not repent unto just prior to it were defeats the purpose of repentance.
