1 Nephi 13:39- 14:1

1 Nephi 13:39 And after it had come forth unto them I beheld other books, which came forth by the power of the Lamb, from the Gentiles unto them, unto the convincing of the Gentiles and the remnant of the seed of my brethren, and also the Jews who were scattered upon all the face of the earth, that the records of the prophets and of the twelve apostles of the Lamb are true.

These writings will come forth by the power of the Messiah. It is important to note this. It is by power of God that we have these writing, not by man’s talents or abilities. They were hid up until the right time and a messenger from the other side came to reveal it to a man. It was power granted to Joseph Smith to translate from an unknown tongue into English. It was the influence of the Lord on others who came forth to help with the writing of the manuscript and providing monies to publish the book. None of this would happen without the direct guidance of the Lord.

This record (The Book or Mormon) would not only be for Lehi’s descendants but for the Gentiles as well. They need the direction this book gives as well as Lehi’s people.

It will also be used to persuade the Jews too about the Messiah they rejected. It will help them and also everyone else that the records in the Bible are true. The two books together will help all to see that the Lord is the Lord of all and is interested in all coming back to God, not just a certain few. All are precious to our Father in Heaven.

Other books will be had among Lehi’s descendants. This is will be least The Book of Mormon, and I would also include Conference talks, writings by the apostles and prophets and even are own journals giving record of our spiritual experiences.

1 Nephi 13:40 And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved.

Nephi sees that the records he will produce along with others that come after him will restore the parts of the Bible that have been removed or lost over time. The Book of Mormon will testify that the twelve apostles did in fact live in Palestine, they did know Jesus and witnessed his death and resurrection and that Jesus is the Savior of the world. And even more instructive, that we need to come to Jesus and learn to be like him to be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven.

So this is the process: Believe that Jesus is the Savior and try to be like him in thought, action and deed. No other person, group, philosophy, governmental leader or any other person will help you achieve your full potential to be a God. Buddha, Mohammad, or Calvin will not get you there. They were there to try to keep concepts alive that will help you live a better life than as a pagan or idol worshiper, but they do have all the rights or the right knowledge to get us back to God.

It was set up before the world was, how we are to get back to God. Jesus was the one chosen to be the example for us to follow, not someone else. It is His way or no way. It will not matter which way we go if we do not except Jesus as the way.

1 Nephi 13:41 And they must come according to the words which shall be established by the mouth of the Lamb; and the words of the Lamb shall be made known in the records of thy seed, as well as in the records of the twelve apostles of the Lamb; wherefore they both shall be established in one; for there is one God and one Shepherd over all the earth.

All people must therefore conform to the laws and ordinances that the Nephites will recorded in their scriptures and those that will come forth in the Bible. The angel tells Nephi that both records will testify that there is only one God and one who has all the answers as to how one should live to be truly happy. They will be two witnesses to this truth. They will work with each other in establishing this idea.

Since the Book of Mormon will come forth 1500 years or so after the Bible testifying of the same Jesus Christ, it will be a power witness that Jesus is the Christ. That no can say that we only have the Bible which has been picked over and obviously changed. It will not be possible to say that Jesus was just a good man with inspiring teachings. That Book of Mormon will reaffirm that Jesus was the son of God and Savior of the world. That he was who He said He was. And those who would want to discount His teachings so they can go on doing just as they want will have to reevaluate whether they need to change behavior. Or they will have to say they are really doing wrong, they know it now, but don’t care even if they know they are shooting themselves in the foot.

1 Nephi 13:42 And the time cometh that he shall manifest himself unto all nations, both unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles; and after he has manifested himself unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles, then he shall manifest himself unto the Gentiles and also unto the Jews, and the last shall be first, and the first shall be last.

In future Jesus will show himself to everybody. He will reveal his person to Jews and also the Gentiles. The Jews will see him first, then afterwards to the Gentiles which is what is happening now.

Then He will show himself to the Gentiles and then to the Jews. The Jews had their chance first but now they will have to wait for another chance after the Gentiles

1 Nephi 14:1 And it shall come to pass, that if the Gentiles shall hearken unto the Lamb of God in that day that he shall manifest himself unto them in word, and also in power, in very deed, unto the taking away of their stumbling blocks—

Nephi sees that the Gentiles will except the Gospel in the future. The Lord will reveal himself in words (The Book of Mormon) and in power. Power of the priesthood and the establishment of priesthood office. His will establish His Church once again and it will grow in spite of efforts to destroy it. People will be taken back by its growth and influence. Many will find it answers their concerns and will unite with it.

The significant thing will be that it will take away the items that have caused many to not unite with the churches of our day or have not answered their concerns about their families or their futures in the afterlife. These are now answered and this allowed many to now come to us and rejoice with us in our knowledge of the gospel.
