2 Nephi 9:16 - 9:20
2 Nephi 9:16 And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal word, which cannot pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still; wherefore, they who are filthy are the devil and his angels; and they shall go away into everlasting fire, prepared for them; and their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever and has no end.
Those who have tried to do good and have desired that life style will have the blessing of continuing to enjoy their desires in the eternal world. Those who wanted to do not so good things for their fellow men will find themselves in the company of persons of like disposition. Their sheared consciences will be with them forever about their evil decisions
2 Nephi 9:17 O the greatness and the justice of our God! For he executeth all his words, and they have gone forth out of his mouth, and his law must be fulfilled.
As the Lord does exist, His plan will be executed as set up originally. Evil for evil and good for good be will rewarded.
2 Nephi 9:18 But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, and their joy shall be full forever.
Again those who have wanted to do good to others will be granted that life style in the eternities. It was planned that way before the world was created. God knew those who would do good would want to continue to do so in heaven. They will be full of joy being able to good to those in that sphere.
2 Nephi 9:19 O the greatness of the mercy of our God, the Holy One of Israel! For he delivereth his saints from that awful monster the devil, and death, and hell, and that lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment.
Jacob praises God again for His thoughtfulness in relation to us, his children. He has planned for all contingencies. He has made sure that those who want to be righteous have the opportunity forever. No one will be deprived of what he or she wants.
2 Nephi 9:20 O how great the holiness of our God! For he knoweth all things, and there is not anything save he knows it.
Because God knows all things that are in our minds and what are wants are, He has planned for the outcome to be the way we want it to be. (He even knows what would happen under other scenarios even if He knows they will not even happen.)
