2 Nephi 15:6 - 15:10

2 Nephi 15:6 And I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

The elements will no longer provide water and food for them. Weeds will grow in place of eatable crops. No fertilizer will be provided or ground preparation for planting.

2 Nephi 15:7 For the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant; and he looked for judgment, and behold, oppression; for righteousness, but behold, a cry.

The Lord explains the symbolism here. The vineyard is the people of the house of Israel. The grape vines represent the Jews. The harvest should have been a righteous people but instead a wicked people whose hearts are set on their riches and turn their backs on the poor who are crying for help.

2 Nephi 15:8 Wo unto them that join house to house, till there can be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

There will be no refuge for the Jews. There will be no place they can go to have protection from their enemies.

2 Nephi 15:9 In mine ears, said the Lord of Hosts, of a truth many houses shall be desolate, and great and fair cities without inhabitant.

The Jews will have no one who is sympathetic to their plait. They will be given no help from any other peoples.

2 Nephi 15:10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah.

The harvest of good grapes will be so small that there will be almost no wine produced.
