2 Nephi 20:11 - 20:15

2 Nephi 20:11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and to her idols?

Shall not Jehovah not do to Jerusalem as He has done to Ephraim?

2 Nephi 20:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and upon Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

However, after Assyria has done what the Jehovah wants them to do to Ephraim and Judah, He will bring down and destroy Assyria. The king of the Assyrians will find he is not as invincible as he thought.

2 Nephi 20:13 For he saith: By the strength of my hand and by my wisdom I have done these things; for I am prudent; and I have moved the borders of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man;

Again Jehovah reiterates that He is in charge of all the nations of the earth. He starts them up, places them where he wants them to live, and who are their neighbors. He will determine what military powers they will possess and how they will use them to carry out His will. Once more they will think this is all their own doing and they did it on their own. Their kings will think they are a clever lot and be proud of their prowess.

2 Nephi 20:14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people; and as one gathereth eggs that are left have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

Jehovah is even responsible for the wealth a nation has. He is the one that puts people where they will have the riches of the earth so they can carry out their plans as they think they did create on their own. Again the nations think they were the originator of their power and possessions.

2 Nephi 20:15 Shall the ax boast itself against him that heweth therewith? Shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? As if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself as if it were no wood!

Now an axe cannot say it is powerful by itself because it needs a man to swing before it can cut down trees. Likewise a saw needs someone to use it before it can do where it is designed to do.
