2 Nephi 28:11 - 28:15
2 Nephi 28:11 Yea, they have all gone out of the way; they have become corrupted.
It will be universal, that is, the actions of men towards each other. Even thought men will think they are doing good works and they will be good works, it will fall short of what the Lord can do for us if we would follow His direction. Our good works on our own will seem small when compared to our good works supplemented with the Lords help.
2 Nephi 28:12 Because of pride, and because of false teachers, and false doctrine, their churches have become corrupted, and their churches are lifted up; because of pride they are puffed up.
And because of the success that the various churches will have with the number of converts they accumulate and the fine buildings they build, they will think themselves better than other which do not have such finery. They will be proud of their accomplishments and will think their false concepts and teachings are ok with the Lord.
2 Nephi 28:13 They rob the poor because of their fine sanctuaries; they rob the poor because of their fine clothing; and they persecute the meek and the poor in heart, because in their pride they are puffed up.
The next result will be that the money spent on fine buildings and clothing will be take away money that the poor could use to care for themselves. Those who are not as well dressed as they are will be looked down upon and will not be cared for as they should.
2 Nephi 28:14 They wear stiff necks and high heads; yea, and because of pride, and wickedness, and abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men.
Most of all preachers of the word are full of pride because of their learning and influence. They are, as a result, committing all sorts of unrighteous acts in the name of the Lord. Their preaching for money, dressing in expensive clothes, fancy building and homes are evidence of their wickedness. There are a few who really want to live the gospel but because there is no men with the authority to preach the gospel, these few have no other source than these false teachers of religion.
2 Nephi 28:15 O the wise, and the learned, and the rich, that are puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit whoredoms, and pervert the right way of the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell!
The teachers in the secular schools, who teach such things as God is dead or is the figment of man’s imagination, are in the same class of evil men as the false preachers. In addition there are those who try to force people to live their percepts of government and kill those who will not comply. To all these evil men, the Lord will give them a reward that will not be pleasing when they figure what they are in hell for.
