2 Nephi 18:16 - 18:22

2 Nephi 18:16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

These events will happen and they are certain. The righteous know these things. All others will ignore to their determent.

2 Nephi 18:17 And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

The righteous will continue to look to the Lord for assistance but He will be hard to find by the wicked who finally wakeup to the natural results of their turning their backs of Jehovah.

2 Nephi 18:18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of Hosts, which dwelleth in Mount Zion.

The righteous are the examples of what Israel should be doing to preserve their lives and culture. The Jews cannot say they did not know that the Lord would take care of their problems if they would only listen to Him.

2 Nephi 18:19 And when they shall say unto you: Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep and mutter—should not a people seek unto their God for the living to hear from the dead?

Some instead of listening to the prophets, have look to fortune tellers and other such sources for knowing what to do in the face of the coming events. Why are they so willing to look to these sources and not Jehovah. They seem to look at everything but Him. One would wonder if they are so desperate, why they would not give the Lord a try seeing that they seem so willing to try anything.

2 Nephi 18:20 To the law and to the testimony; and if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

If what the wizards and such seem to say do not happen it is because they are false prophets. They do not have the inspiration of God in their predictions.

2 Nephi 18:21 And they shall pass through it hardly bestead and hungry; and it shall come to pass that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

After all these avenues prove worthless in help to stave off the coming troubles, the people will then curse God and say it His fault these things are happening to them. Why is God allowing bad things to happen to good people, they will say to themselves.

2 Nephi 18:22 And they shall look unto the earth and behold trouble, and darkness, dimness of anguish, and shall be driven to darkness.

For they will see only destruction and misery. Their reaction will be to try and hide from all the terror, but will find no protection.
