2 Nephi 26:21 - 26:25

2 Nephi 26:21 And there are many churches built up which cause envyings, and strifes, and malice.

There will be great competition between these churches for followers. They will fight each other with words, ridicule and violence.

2 Nephi 26:22 And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things; yea, the founder of murder, and works of darkness; yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever.

And to keep their power they will use secret societies to reek havoc on all who might appose their doctrines and influence. The devil has to use this method to keep people in line. Righteousness does not need secret groups to keep people on the right path. The Holy Ghost does that. The devil has to use threats by secret men, who cannot be found out, to scare people to stay in line.

2 Nephi 26:23 For behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you that the Lord God worketh not in darkness.

Again the Lord does not work with secret societies. He works in the open for all to see. People are faithful not because of fear but because they love too.

2 Nephi 26:24 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.

And all that the Lord does is for the good of all the people on this earth. He loves us all and only wants the best for us and was willing to die so we could have opportunities for eternal progress. He wants all men to come to Him not so He can rule over them but that He can show them how to get ahead in the eternities. He is always trying to show us the way that brings real happiness, that will always bring happiness throughout the eternities.

2 Nephi 26:25 Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price.

Nephi asks: has any person known of the Lord telling anyone not to come to come to him for help, that they are finished, they are past redemption? No He has never done that. He keeps continuously calling to us to come to Him. In fact He says that what He has to show us cost nothing. One does not need money or anything of value to acquire the means for salvation. All that the Lord has to offer which are the greatest of all gifts that are available in the universe requires only a commitment of the mind and soul.
