1 Nephi 19:13- 19:17

1 Nephi 19:13 And as for those who are at Jerusalem, saith the prophet, they shall be scourged by all people, because they crucify the God of Israel, and turn their hearts aside, rejecting signs and wonders, and the power and glory of the God of Israel.

The result of the people of Jerusalem killing their own God will be the scourging of they and their descendents. Because they have rejected all the signs and wonders that He had shown them, they will be persecuted.

1 Nephi 19:14 And because they turn their hearts aside, saith the prophet, and have despised the Holy One of Israel, they shall wander in the flesh, and perish, and become a hiss and a byword, and be hated among all nations.

These persecutions will be so intense that they will be hated by ALL nations of the earth. They will have no country or land of their own. They will carry the mark of the killing of their own God for many years.

1 Nephi 19:15 Nevertheless, when that day cometh, saith the prophet, that they no more turn aside their hearts against the Holy One of Israel, then will he remember the covenants which he made to their fathers.

However, at some future day, the Jews will not deride the Jesus anymore. They will be more receptive to the gospel message. At that time the Lord will remember the covenants that He made with their ancestors.

1 Nephi 19:16 Yea, then will he remember the isles of the sea; yea, and all the people who are of the house of Israel, will I gather in, saith the Lord, according to the words of the prophet Zenos, from the four quarters of the earth.

The Lord will reveal to all the scattered descendants of the house of Israel, wherever they are located, who they really are. That they have the right to the promises the Lord made to their ancestors and of their gloriest future as spoken by the prophet Zenos.

1 Nephi 19:17 Yea, and all the earth shall see the salvation of the Lord, saith the prophet; every nation, kindred, tongue and people shall be blessed.

As these promises are in the beginning stages of fulfillment, the world will see it happening before their eyes. The effect of this education will be on all peoples of the earth. Great blessing will come to them because of the promises of the ancients coming to pass.

I sure that this refers to the technical advancements in communication, medical, travel, and education. These advancements are necessary to get the word out and get people to them to preach the gospel. And the world is benefited as a side effect although they think that it is their great talents that made all these things happen. Little do they conceive how much the Lord is in control of the worlds advancements.
