2 Nephi 10:6 - 10:10

2 Nephi 10:6 Wherefore, because of their iniquities, destructions, famines, pestilences, and bloodshed shall come upon them; and they who shall not be destroyed shall be scattered among all nations.

Because of the general wickedness that prevailed among the Jews and their leadership, they would fall to wars and famines. Their country would be destroyed and they would have to flee to other parts of the world to save their lives. They would now find themselves living in other parts of the world under the government of other countries.

2 Nephi 10:7 But behold, thus saith the Lord God: When the day cometh that they shall believe in me, that I am Christ, then have I covenanted with their fathers that they shall be restored in the flesh, upon the earth, unto the lands of their inheritance.

Jacob promises that at some future date, that they will be able to return to Palestine and have their country back again. It will happen when they come to know that Jesus is the Messiah. (The Jewish State was restored in 1948 but the Jews certainly don’t believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah. So what kind to restoration was this? Probably a political one and not a spiritual one. I think that if they would believe in Jesus they would not have the problems they have now. Believing in Jesus will not take place until the Second Coming which is to come. Therefore I believe that they will continue to hang on tenuously until Jesus comes to save them from the near destruction as foretold in the scriptures.)

2 Nephi 10:8 And it shall come to pass that they shall be gathered in from their long dispersion, from the isles of the sea, and from the four parts of the earth; and the nations of the Gentiles shall be great in the eyes of me, saith God, in carrying them forth to the lands of their inheritance.

Jacob says that they will be brought back from whatever countries they have found themselves by the Lord directly to their own lands. They will be helped by the leaders of these countries. The countries will be prosperous and populous through the help of the Lord and will feel the need to help the Jews to return to Palestine.

2 Nephi 10:9 Yea, the kings of the Gentiles shall be nursing fathers unto them, and their queens shall become nursing mothers; wherefore, the promises of the Lord are great unto the Gentiles, for he hath spoken it, and who can dispute?

Again the leadership of these countries will be liken to fathers and mothers helping their children to get better in times of illness. (They might be helping the Jews because they just want to get rid of them and their problems within their country or they are really interested in getting them to the Holy Land as they think it will help bring about the Second Coming. But whatever the reason, the Lord is inspiring, whether they know it or not, them to help the Jews return to Palestine.)

2 Nephi 10:10 But behold, this land, said God, shall be a land of thine inheritance, and the Gentiles shall be blessed upon the land.

Jacob says the their land (American continent) is their land of inheritance and the Gentiles who are lead here and settle will be blessed as the his people would be if they had continued in righteousness.
