2 Nephi 8:1 - 8:5
2 Nephi 8:1 Hearken unto me, ye that follow after righteousness. Look unto the rock from whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from whence ye are digged.
Follow the Lord’s leadership here. If you are a rock that was cut out of a hillside, then look to the person who carved it out since He obviously knows what He is going to do with it or He would not have gone to so much work. Don’t try to figure out on you own what the rock will be used for because you will be wrong. The same applies if you are dirt dug from the ground.
2 Nephi 8:2 Look unto Abraham, your father, and unto Sarah, she that bare you; for I called him alone, and blessed him.
See the example of Abraham and is wife Sarah who were the first rock hewn from the hillside of ignorance and was been led by the Lord so that his family and descendents would be living in the manner of happiness if they would have followed Abraham’s lead.
2 Nephi 8:3 For the Lord shall comfort Zion, he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
The Lord has the only program to bring everlasting happiness to men. No other system or government or philosophy will work among the children of men. All will fail even if they look good for a few moments. Those who will live the Lord’s way will always find the happiness, peace and joy they are truly seeking and it will last forever. It will work every time it is tried. (Although it has only work a couple of times that I can think of such as Enoch and Melchizedek. All other attempts have failed because men have not followed the Lord’s program completely).
2 Nephi 8:4 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation; for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light for the people.
Therefore listen to the Lord and obey the laws and ordinances He will put in place. His righteous leadership and judgment will be a draw for all those who are seeking peace and not conflict.
2 Nephi 8:5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arm shall judge the people. The isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
Lord is close by. He is not hard to find if one will just look for Him. If you look for Him, He will know it and send someone to help you.
