2 Nephi 15:21 - 15:25
2 Nephi 15:21 Wo unto the wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!
Be careful those who think they are wise because of their learning and place in society who do not use the gospel as their guide.
2 Nephi 15:22 Wo unto the mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;
Those who are drunk all the time need to sober up or they will find themselves destroyed both in body and spirit.
2 Nephi 15:23 Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Those who try to put down people who are living their religion or saying that look after ones personal interest at the expense of another is ok.
2 Nephi 15:24 Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, their root shall be rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up as dust; because they have cast away the law of the Lord of Hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Because of their wicked ways, they will self destruct. They will be destroyed by their enemies. They will not protected even thought they think they are better than all around them. Because of their rejection of the gospel they will not have the Lord on their side. He will no longer protect them and they will be destroyed.
2 Nephi 15:25 Therefore, is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them; and the hills did tremble, and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
The Lord is now angry enough to inflict death and misery on the inhabitants of Jerusalem. He has, on purpose, raised up enemies to attach and destroy Jerusalem. There will be a awful scene of dead bodies rotting in the streets and mass destruction of property. But in spite of this destruction of Jerusalem, the Lord will still be trying to beckon the people to return to Him.
