2 Nephi 25:16 - 25:20
2 Nephi 25:16 And after they have been scattered, and the Lord God hath scourged them by other nations for the space of many generations, yea, even down from generation to generation until they shall be persuaded to believe in Christ, the Son of God, and the atonement, which is infinite for all mankind—and when that day shall come that they shall believe in Christ, and worship the Father in his name, with pure hearts and clean hands, and look not forward any more for another Messiah, then, at that time, the day will come that it must needs be expedient that they should believe these things.
The Jews will be not only scattered but their dispersion will last for many generations. They will not return to their lands until they have been thoroughly persecuted by they nations they find themselves among. This situation will last until they come to have a testimony of Jesus Christ and that He was the Messiah. They must have a testimony of His sacrifice and the atonement and what it was designed to do for each of them personally. They must also be praying to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. And they will have to give up the idea that the Messiah is yet to make His appearance to mankind. It is a requirement that these details must be in place among the Jews.
2 Nephi 25:17 And the Lord will set his hand again the second time to restore his people from their lost and fallen state. Wherefore, he will proceed to do a marvelous work and a wonder among the children of men.
When they are, the Lord will again restore them from their lost and fallen state. (I notice that He is not talking about their lands of promise. The returning to their lands may not be the meaning of restoration to the good graces of the Lord and the blessing He can give them. The restoration to their lands and the knowledge they get of the gospel will be considered a marvel to all that witness it. Considering they are scattered all over the world and then all of a sudden they are back in their lands and are a power in the world once again which has never happened in history before will seem like a miracle.). The Lord will proceed to restore the gospel and a knowledge of what the atonement already presents in our lives.
2 Nephi 25:18 Wherefore, he shall bring forth his words unto them, which words shall judge them at the last day, for they shall be given them for the purpose of convincing them of the true Messiah, who was rejected by them; and unto the convincing of them that they need not look forward any more for a Messiah to come, for there should not any come, save it should be a false Messiah which should deceive the people; for there is save one Messiah spoken of by the prophets, and that Messiah is he who should be rejected of the Jews.
The words of Jesus Christ will be had among them (in the form of the Bible and Book of Mormon) to help convince them that the Messiah has indeed already come and that they need no longer look forward to His coming. If any say they are the Messiah and is making his first appearance, then they are false Messiahs. The Messiah did come and was rejected by the Jews in the meridian of time.
2 Nephi 25:19 For according to the words of the prophets, the Messiah cometh in six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets, and also the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Nephi tells us that the coming of the Messiah was to be 600 years from his father leaving Jerusalem and that His name would be Jesus Christ. He would be the Son of God and the prophets specifically said where and when and what His name would be. (This information was left out of the Bible by someone at some time).
2 Nephi 25:20 And now, my brethren, I have spoken plainly that ye cannot err. And as the Lord God liveth that brought Israel up out of the land of Egypt, and gave unto Moses power that he should heal the nations after they had been bitten by the poisonous serpents, if they would cast their eyes unto the serpent which he did raise up before them, and also gave him power that he should smite the rock and the water should come forth; yea, behold I say unto you, that as these things are true, and as the Lord God liveth, there is none other name given under heaven save it be this Jesus Christ, of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved.
Now Nephi has written what is plain to understand. You cannot hide behind not understanding Isaiah. Just as it is true that the Lord gave power to Moses to delivered the children of Israel from Egypt and put a serpent on a pole so that if people would just look at it they would be heeled, it is also true that there is no other name by which a man can be saved to damnation. (All the philosophies of this world whether secular or so called religious will never bring everlasting joy and happiness. They might bring a measure of pleasure for a time, but in the end they will all not bring the desired result, namely everlasting joy. At some time, however, all will find out what was the true direction they should have taken and will feel sorry that they either refused to listen or just turned their backs on it.).
