2 Nephi 25:26 - 25:30

2 Nephi 25:26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Knowing what Christ would do for all mankind, they loved Him. Nephi would do anything to convince his children and anyone else about Christ’s mission to mankind. Nephi would do his best to show that only Christ had to ability to get us in position to be forgiven of our sins and return to our Father in Heaven

2 Nephi 25:27 Wherefore, we speak concerning the law that our children may know the deadness of the law; and they, by knowing the deadness of the law, may look forward unto that life which is in Christ, and know for what end the law was given. And after the law is fulfilled in Christ, that they need not harden their hearts against him when the law ought to be done away.

So when Nephi talks about the law, he does so with the addition of telling his children that the law is not the gospel but only a precursor to the gospel. It is Christ they are to look to for a remission of their sins not the law of Moses. The law’s purpose is to get the children of Israel to look to Christ’s coming and sacrifice at a future date. And at a future date the law would be illuminated in favor of living the gospel principles.

2 Nephi 25:28 And now behold, my people, ye are a stiffnecked people; wherefore, I have spoken plainly unto you, that ye cannot misunderstand. And the words which I have spoken shall stand as a testimony against you; for they are sufficient to teach any man the right way; for the right way is to believe in Christ and deny him not; for by denying him ye also deny the prophets and the law.

Nephi has tried to speak as plainly as possible because the people will not seek live or understand the gospel. He wants them to know that because of the plainness of his speech that the Jews will be held accountable for what he has written. He wants them to know also that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way back to God not the law of Moses. The Jews must not deny the Messiah and live knowing that the law of Moses is a teacher of the mission of the Messiah not all there is know concerning Him. But by denying the Messiah, you are denying the prophets because they all testified of Him and His coming.

2 Nephi 25:29 And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.

The law of Moses will not get you into heaven. Only living the gospel will do that. The gospel is the way that has been told to us by God as the only way back to Him and salvation. All other ways or philosophies are bogus. You must acknowledge this and gain a testimony of this or you will find heaven not a place you will feel comfortable in.

2 Nephi 25:30 And, inasmuch as it shall be expedient, ye must keep the performances and ordinances of God until the law shall be fulfilled which was given unto Moses.

Until the Messiah comes, you must therefore perform all the requirements of the law of Moses until such time as the Messiah tell you otherwise.
