2 Nephi 20:6 - 20:10

2 Nephi 20:6 I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

He will send the Assyrians against a nation that says it keeps the law of Moses but only what can be seen on the surface. Their hearts are not really in it as shown by their treatment of the poor and helpless. Assyria will be used to punish Ephraim and take away all their wealth and make them like the poor and helpless to teach them what they had been doing to these folks in their mist.

2 Nephi 20:7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but in his heart it is to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

Jehovah meant to do all these things. It is no coincidence that the Assyrians came into being. It is no coincidence that Assyrian destroyed Ephraim. In fact all nations that destroyed other nations were all inspired by Jehovah.

2 Nephi 20:8 For he saith: Are not my princes altogether kings?

Are not, Jehovah asks, all nations and their leaders a product of His power to control the history of the world for His righteous ends?

2 Nephi 20:9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?

The nations mentioned here are evidence of His ability to set the fate of nations and raise up and bring down whoever He wants.

2 Nephi 20:10 As my hand hath founded the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

Just as Jehovah has raised up the more powerful kingdoms than Ephraim or Judah.
