2 Nephi 30:1 - 30:5

2 Nephi 30:1 And now behold, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you; for I, Nephi, would not suffer that ye should suppose that ye are more righteous than the Gentiles shall be. For behold, except ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall all likewise perish; and because of the words which have been spoken ye need not suppose that the Gentiles are utterly destroyed.

Since the blessing of being the people selected to administer the Gospel to the world dose not somehow makes you special or better than the Gentiles. Don’t think you are more righteous than they are. Being selected only means that you have been chosen to bring the scriptures and concepts of the Gospel to the Gentiles and it has nothing to do with your goodness or virtues. It because you are descendants of Abraham to whom the promise of being the one to bring the Gospel to world was given. Therefore don’t think that they will be completely destroyed because of their wickedness. And don’t think that you will be ok because of your being of the house of Israel. For if you are wicked you will subject to destruction as will the Gentiles. Again righteous is the key to survival not lineage.

2 Nephi 30:2 For behold, I say unto you that as many of the Gentiles as will repent are the covenant people of the Lord; and as many of the Jews as will not repent shall be cast off; for the Lord covenanteth with none save it be with them that repent and believe in his Son, who is the Holy One of Israel.

If the Gentiles will repent of their wickedness, they will be adopted into the house of Israel and enjoy the blessing of Abraham as if they were literally his descendant. The Jews, if they do not live up to Gospel precepts, will be destroyed. The Lord has made it very plain that if you do not accept the Gospel and gain a testimony of Jesus Christ and repent of sins your decadency will not protect you in anyway.

2 Nephi 30:3 And now, I would prophesy somewhat more concerning the Jews and the Gentiles. For after the book of which I have spoken shall come forth, and be written unto the Gentiles, and sealed up again unto the Lord, there shall be many which shall believe the words which are written; and they shall carry them forth unto the remnant of our seed.

Nephi continues his prophesying about the Jews and Gentiles. The before mentioned book or the Book of Mormon will come forth into the world by the Gentiles and not the Jews or any of the house of Israel. It will, however, impress many Gentiles that they will repent of their sins and ignorance. They in turn will carry the book to Lehi’s descendants living in the promised land.

2 Nephi 30:4 And then shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they are descendants of the Jews.

The native peoples of the promised land living in the time when the Book of Mormon will come forth to them will learn of their ancestors origins. They will learn from where they came from and that they are descendants of Jews.

2 Nephi 30:5 And the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them; wherefore, they shall be restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, which was had among their fathers.

The Gospel in the Book of Mormon will then be preached to them and they will come to know the same doctrine that was had in the past among their ancestors.
