Jacob 6:6 - 6:13

Jacob 6:6 Yea, today, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts; for why will ye die?

Why should a person commit spiritual suicide? Why turn your back on what will give you the best that is possible in mortality.

Jacob 6:7 For behold, after ye have been nourished by the good word of God all the day long, will ye bring forth evil fruit, that ye must be hewn down and cast into the fire?

The spirit has been working with you all your lives to show you the way to joy. So why reject the gospel and bring upon yourselves misery and be denied yourselves the blessing of having all the joy that is possible for a child of God to have. Why be removed from God’s influence and learn the hard way why the gospel is the only way to happiness.

Jacob 5:8 Behold, will ye reject these words? Will ye reject the words of the prophets; and will ye reject all the words which have been spoken concerning Christ, after so 6many have spoken concerning him; and deny the good word of Christ, and the power of God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, and quench the Holy Spirit, and make a mock of the great plan of redemption, which hath been laid for you?

Look at all the ways God has tried to work with you through prophets and scriptures. They have all testified of Christ and what living His gospel can bring to your life. Will you reject the companionship of the Holy Ghost and all the powers that God wants to bestow on you? Do you really want to make fun of the plan of redemption and say you don’t need it.

Jacob 6:9 Know ye not that if ye will do these things, that the power of the redemption and the resurrection, which is in Christ, will bring you to stand with shame and awful guilt before the bar of God?

If you do turn your backs on the gospel, you will have to account for your actions after the resurrection. As you stand there before God with no excuses for your conduct, you will not be very comfortable in his presence. You will wish you were somewhere else.

Jacob 6:10 And according to the power of justice, for justice cannot be denied, ye must go away into that lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever, which lake of fire and brimstone is endless torment.

And so you will. You will be sent to where you will fill most comfortable, but you will always regret that you did not take advantage of what was available to you in the eternities.

Jacob 6:11 O then, my beloved brethren, repent ye, and enter in at the strait gate, and continue in the way which is narrow, until ye shall obtain eternal life.

Jacob pleads with his people to give up their wickedness. Strive to live the gospel and live to have the influence of God strong in their lives so they might have a joyful live in the hereafter.

Jacob 6:12 O be wise; what can I say more?

Wake up be realize that you are on the wrong path. Live like you know deep down in your hearts you know should live. What more can he say to his people.

Jacob 6:13 Finally, I bid you farewell, until I shall meet you before the pleasing bar of God, which bar striketh the wicked with awful dread and fear. Amen.

Jacob has said all that he can think to say and can now only say good by to all that read his words. We will all meet before God eventually to be judged as to what we really want for the eternities.
