Mosiah 4:6 - 4:10

Mosiah 4:6 I say unto you, if ye have come to a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of his life, I mean the life of the mortal body—

And if they now know that they exist only because of God’s charity and love for us and if they now see that it is by the atonement that was set up before the world was brought into being that a person can take advantage of its power to bring salvation to each of us by our faithfulness and keeping it up until we are safely dead.

Mosiah 4:7 I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation, through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.

Then you will know that your salvation depends on the atonement which again was put into place before creation of this world and our being placed on it.

Mosiah 4:8 And this is the means whereby salvation cometh. And there is none other salvation save this which hath been spoken of; neither are there any conditions whereby man can be saved except the conditions which I have told you.

It is only through the atonement that salvation comes. There is no system of government, human philosophy, religious dogma other than the ones King Benjamin has just given them in this speech that will bring them the comfort of knowing they are on the correct path to salvation.

Mosiah 4:9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

The basics again are believing that there is a God in heaven. That God did in fact create all they see in this world and in the sky above. Believe that God knows what he is doing and what is happening to the people is for their own good even if they cannot see the benefits now.

Mosiah 4:10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.

And our part is to repent of sins and don’t do them anymore. That one must plead with God for forgiveness of those sins committed. One then shows his commitment by doing these things.
