Alma 22:21 - 22:25

Alma 22:21 Now when the queen saw the fear of the servants she also began to fear exceedingly, lest there should some evil come upon her. And she commanded her servants that they should go and call the people, that they might slay Aaron and his brethren.

Now the queen when she saw just how fearful were her servants of Aaron and his companions began to fear for her own safety. She then commanded her servants to call for the people of the town to come and see what was going on in hopes that they would kill Aaron and his companions.

Alma 22:22 Now when Aaron saw the determination of the queen, he, also knowing the hardness of the hearts of the people, feared lest that a multitude should assemble themselves together, and there should be a great contention and a disturbance among them; therefore he put forth his hand and raised the king from the earth, and said unto him: Stand. And he stood upon his feet, receiving his strength.

As Aaron witnessed her reaction, he realize that if the people did see what had happened, there would be much arguing and debate over what to do. Aaron knowing just how hard and ignorant the people were of righteous things, he feared that what he wanted to do with the people would be in jeopardy. He therefore grabbed the hand of the king and raised him up to his feet.

Alma 22:23 Now this was done in the presence of the queen and many of the servants. And when they saw it they greatly marveled, and began to fear. And the king stood forth, and began to minister unto them. And he did minister unto them, insomuch that his whole household were converted unto the Lord.

This reviving of the king astounded the queen and the servants even more and began to again fear for their own lives. However, the king assured them that he was alright and that he had had a great spiritual experience and now was a changed person. He began to bear witness as to the power of the gospel to change the dispossession of a person’s character and as a result, the king’s entire household was converted to the gospel.

Alma 22:24 Now there was a multitude gathered together because of the commandment of the queen, and there began to be great murmurings among them because of Aaron and his brethren.

Because the queen had asked some of the servants to gather the people together, a crowd had assembled. There was a lot of arguing among them about what had happened what they should do about it.

Alma 22:25 But the king stood forth among them and administered unto them. And they were pacified towards Aaron and those who were with him.

However, the king came before the crowd to assure them all was well and that Aaron and his companions were friends of his and of no danger to him or anyone else.
