Alma 23:6 - 23:10

Alma 23:6 And as sure as the Lord liveth, so sure as many as believed, or as many as were brought to the knowledge of the truth, through the preaching of Ammon and his brethren, according to the spirit of revelation and of prophecy, and the power of God working miracles in them—yea, I say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.

As many of the Lamanites that were converted through the efforts of Ammon and his brothers and their companions using the spirit of revelation and prophecy never fell away from the gospel.

This should encourage us in proselyting even among the worst of people because when they are converted they will probably be more stalwart because they see the difference between what they were and what they have become because of the gospel and do not want to revert back to the way they were, whereas a convert who had a comfortable life and the gospel added what seems to be little to their life style might find it easy to fall away and notice little change in doing so because little change was required when they joined at first.

Alma 23:7 For they became a righteous people; they did lay down the weapons of their rebellion, that they did not fight against God any more, neither against any of their brethren.

The next result was the complete change of attitude towards the Nephites and each other. In fact they put away their weapons of war and refused to take up arms any more against anyone.

Alma 23:8 Now, these are they who were converted unto the Lord:

These were the peoples that were converted to the Lord.

Alma 23:9 The people of the Lamanites who were in the land of Ishmael;

The people in the land Ishmael.

Alma 23:10 And also of the people of the Lamanites who were in the land of Middoni;

The people in the land of Middoni.
