Alma 27:6 - 27:10

Alma 27:6 But the king said unto them: Behold, the Nephites will destroy us, because of the many murders and sins we have committed against them.

The king is afraid, however, if they do go down to the land of Zarahemla, that the Nephites will take revenge on them for their past attacks and various crimes committed against them in the past by the Lamanites.

Alma 27:7 And Ammon said: I will go and inquire of the Lord, and if he say unto us, go down unto our brethren, will ye go?

Ammon says he will asked the Lord what to do and if he does will the king and his people go to Zarahemla?

Alma 27:8 And the king said unto him: Yea, if the Lord saith unto us go, we will go down unto our brethren, and we will be their slaves until we repair unto them the many murders and sins which we have committed against them.

The king says they will go and if required by the Nephites, they will become their slaves until they have compensated for all their past acts of murder and other various evil acts.

Alma 27:9 But Ammon said unto him: It is against the law of our brethren, which was established by my father, that there should be any slaves among them; therefore let us go down and rely upon the mercies of our brethren.

Ammon resounds to the king's fears by telling him that slavery is illegal among the Nephites and if that his only worry then they should go now.

Alma 27:10 But the king said unto him: Inquire of the Lord, and if he saith unto us go, we will go; otherwise we will perish in the land.

But the king says for Ammon to pray to the Lord for conformation and if He says go, they will go, if not they will die at the hands of their own people.
