Alma 42:26 - 42:31

Alma 42: 26 And thus God bringeth about his great and eternal purposes, which were prepared from the foundation of the world. And thus cometh about the salvation and the redemption of men, and also their destruction and misery.

This plan of restoration is for the salvation of men. It was put in place when the earth was created of us all. By it we will either be redeemed to an eternality of happiness or misery.

Alma 42: 27 Therefore, O my son, whosoever will come may come and partake of the waters of life freely; and whosoever will not come the same is not compelled to come; but in the last day it shall be restored unto him according to his deeds.

This plan is available without payment of any kind. It is free to everyone and we are not compelled to take advantage of it. Again whatever path is chosen by us we will be restored to that in the eternal world.

Alma 42: 28 If he has desired to do evil, and has not repented in his days, behold, evil shall be done unto him, according to the restoration of God.

If a person has done evil in mortality and did not want to repent, that will he be restored to in the hereafter.

Alma 42: 29 And now, my son, I desire that ye should let these things trouble you no more, and only let your sins trouble you, with that trouble which shall bring you down unto repentance.

Alma tells Corianton, not to let this doctrine of restoration bother him anymore. Just let his sins bother him so that they will motivate him to repent of his sins.

Alma 42: 30 O my son, I desire that ye should deny the justice of God no more. Do not endeavor to excuse yourself in the least point because of your sins, by denying the justice of God; but do you let the justice of God, and his mercy, and his long-suffering have full sway in your heart; and let it bring you down to the dust in humility.

Don’t continue in thinking that God will excuse us of our sins and restore us to happiness. This would deny the justice of God. So quit the thought that all will be right in the future regardless of our actions. Let the idea that God will meet out what is truly just for us all according to our behavior in this life and let that thought stay in your mind to keep you humble so you will be open to accept inspiration to help you with repenting of your sins.

Alma 42: 31 And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now, my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them. And may God grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.

Corianton is called again to preach the gospel unto the Nephites. He is to preach with seriousness and work to bring the gospel to as many as will listen to him. Do so with the idea that only through it can the Lord be merciful to men and bring about the plan of salvation for us all. If Corianton will do this, then he will have all the help and blessings he needs to save himself and all around him.
