2 Nephi 28:26 - 28:32

2 Nephi 28:26 Yea, wo be unto him that hearkeneth unto the precepts of men, and denieth the power of God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost!

To those who are following the philosophies of men and not the true gospel or the Holy Ghost will suffer destruction and sorrow because of being on the wrong track to salvation.

2 Nephi 28:27 Yea, wo be unto him that saith: We have received, and we need no more!

And to the person who thinks he has all the scriptures he needs to be saved, he is sadly mistaken.

2 Nephi 28:28 And in fine, wo unto all those who tremble, and are angry because of the truth of God! For behold, he that is built upon the rock receiveth it with gladness; and he that is built upon a sandy foundation trembleth lest he shall fall.

And especially to the individual who thinks he has the truth and therefore gets angry at those who have a different opinion. Anger is a sign that they are evil and that when the gospel is presented to them, they will not accept it. If a person was built on the real gospel he would have received additional scripture with gladness.

2 Nephi 28:29 Wo be unto him that shall say: We have received the word of God, and we need no more of the word of God, for we have enough!

The individual who says he has enough scripture as in the Bible does not understand how God works. He is cutting himself off from more of what God can give him in the way of new insights and additional information to combat today’s wickedness.

2 Nephi 28:30 For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.

The God of Heaven gives to men bits and pieces of the gospel as it is suitable for the situations that man finds his society in. The information is always designed to help man combat the particular evils that exist at the time. By saying that he does not need what the Lord is giving to him at that moment is missing out on what is critical for him to know at that moment. He is rejecting what he will need to see what the devil is up to and what he needs to overcome him. So what happens? The person who refuses to accept what the Lord wants to teach him will find that the helps in the scriptures he has at that moment seem to be useless to him. He begins to pay little attention to them. He then starts to forget what they have to say and look to other things for help.

2 Nephi 28:31 Cursed is he that putteth his trust in man, or maketh flesh his arm, or shall hearken unto the precepts of men, save their precepts shall be given by the power of the Holy Ghost.

In addition, the person who does not want anymore help from God will turn to men for help. One just does not go about not looking for help when he is under stress. And if men look to other philosophies they will find that they will not help and their condition is not fixed. The only real help will always come through the Holy Ghost. If the steps man takes to solve his problems are not given by the Holy Ghost they are from man's wisdom and man’s wisdom never gives the proper solution to man’s problems.

2 Nephi 28:32 Wo be unto the Gentiles, saith the Lord God of Hosts! For notwithstanding I shall lengthen out mine arm unto them from day to day, they will deny me; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto them, saith the Lord God, if they will repent and come unto me; for mine arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts.

However the Lord knows how hard it is to accept gospels principles because of the influence of satan but He has not given up on them and will continue to, by every righteous means, to get the information to them that they need to overcome satan and the philosophies of men so they can have some peace in this world of sin and decadence.
