Alma 18:26 - 18:30

Alma 18:26 And then Ammon said: Believest thou that there is a Great Spirit?

Since Lamoni did not know about God, Ammon asked if he believed in a Great Spirit?

Alma 18:27 And he said, Yea.

Lamoni replied to the afirmative.

Alma 18:28 And Ammon said: This is God. And Ammon said unto him again: Believest thou that this Great Spirit, who is God, created all things which are in heaven and in the earth?

Ammon makes the argument that the Great Spirit that Lamoni believed in was actually the Great Spirit. Then Ammon asked if Lamoni believed that God created the heavens and the earth.

Ammon now had to get Lamoni to know of the extent of the power of God. Lamoni needed to know that God made everything that was all around him from the air he breath to the materials for the house he lived in.

Alma 18:29 And he said: Yea, I believe that he created all things which are in the earth; but I do not know the heavens.

Lamoni believed that God created the earth but was unaware of the concept of the heavens.

Alma 18:30 And Ammon said unto him: The heavens is a place where God dwells and all his holy angels.

Ammon tells Lamoni that heaven is where God actually lives along with his helpers and angels.
