Alma 18:31 - 18:35

Alma 18:31 And king Lamoni said: Is it above the earth?

Lamoni asks if the heavens are up in the sky somewhere?

Alma 18:32 And Ammon said: Yea, and he looketh down upon all the children of men; and he knows all the thoughts and intents of the heart; for by his hand were they all created from the beginning.

Ammon says that it is which allows God to see all that is going and even what is in the hearts and minds of us all. God made all of us, so He knows us well.

The intellect of a god must be something to behold. Try to imagine keeping track of the thoughts and intents of billions beyond billions of human beings and coordinating their interactions so that the outcome He has in mind comes to pass. We have computers that can keep track of billions and billions of pieces of information and if someone programs the data can come up with comparisons and even track the outcome, but the intelligence of God is that He can know what is the best outcome for us all and arrange people in time and place for it to be of the maximum benefit for each of us.

Alma 18:33 And king Lamoni said: I believe all these things which thou hast spoken. Art thou sent from God?

Lamoni so far believes all that Ammon has told him about. He now asks if God has sent him to him?

Alma 18:34 Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true;

Ammon says he is but a man and was created in the pattern of God, but he has been called by God to come to the Lamanites to teach them about God and what He wants to Lamanites to know concerning their true nature as children of God.

Alma 18:35 And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge, and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God.

And it is because of the Spirit that is motivating Ammon and has given him knowledge of the gospel and power to show off it's power that is the why he is in Lamoni's house and this is what God wants that is to teach the gospel to Lamoni and his people.
