Alma 33:21 - 33:23

21 O my brethren, if ye could be healed by merely casting about your eyes that ye might be healed, would ye not behold quickly, or would ye rather harden your hearts in unbelief, and be slothful, that ye would not cast about your eyes, that ye might perish?

Does it make more sense that if you only had to look to be healed, you would look and do so as fast as you could? Or are you going to be hard headed and keep your opinion that it will not help and die?

Yet that is what we see every day. Pride in one’s convictions and traditions will keep people away from the truth. Such pride is the opposite of humility and it is murder to the soul.

22 If so, wo shall come upon you; but if not so, then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him, to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works.

So don’t let your pride keep you from the truth. Begin to believe in the true nature of the Son of God. Believe He will indeed will come to earth to redeem His people. Believe He will atone for their sins and bring to past the resurrection of the dead. Believe that we will all stand before Him as resurrected beings to be judge for our activities in life whether they be good or evil.

I marvel that He personally will judge each of us. There are an estimated 70 billion who have or will have be born on this earth and each one of us will stand before Him? How does that work I wonder?

23 And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen.

This is the seed that Alma wants the Zoramites to plant in their hearts. He wants them to allow this seed to take root and that they nourish it until it becomes a tree from which they can harvest the fruit of external life. Getting this conviction will let God come into one’s life to lift some of the burdens of life so we can have joy in spite of our adversities. This is all possible for all and all we have to do it try it.
