Mosiah 20:1 - 20:5

Mosiah 20:1 Now there was a place in Shemlon where the daughters of the Lamanites did gather themselves together to sing, and to dance, and to make themselves merry.

In the land of Shemlon, which had been part of the land of Nephi settled by the Nephites, the daughters of the Lamanites like to get together to party.

Mosiah 20:2 And it came to pass that there was one day a small number of them gathered together to sing and to dance.

And a small number of these young Lamanite girls had gathered together in one of these parties.

Mosiah 20:3 And now the priests of king Noah, being ashamed to return to the city of Nephi, yea, and also fearing that the people would slay them, therefore they durst not return to their wives and their children.

Now the priests of king Noah were still running around in the wilderness. They knew they were still wanted men and could not return to their homes.

Mosiah 20:4 And having tarried in the wilderness, and having discovered the daughters of the Lamanites, they laid and watched them;

The priests just happened to be around watching when these Lamanite girls were having their party.

Mosiah 20:5 And when there were but few of them gathered together to dance, they came forth out of their secret places and took them and carried them into the wilderness; yea, twenty and four of the daughters of the Lamanites they carried into the wilderness.

As the party broke up and there were only 24 left, these priests came out of their place of observation; kidnapped these Lamanite girls and returned to the wilderness.
